This time AKIWAWA welcomes DJ Reezm out of Zurich. Of course it's not his first time playing in Basel. His big early 80/90s rap collection and mixing skills resulted in several bookings for the Rap History sessions. Currently he's one of the resident DJs of last years freshly launched "Mind The Gap" series at Kaserne Basel, focusing on new beatz, electronica and the likes. But still, he's always playing the black and round discs only, without computerized help, classic style! This clearly makes sense as he's running the great Humrecords store in Zurich with his mates. The store offers a wide range of musical styles and so does DJ Reezm. Apart from the beats/rap records, he owns a deep collection of everything with a touch of soul, funk & jazz from all across the globe. We think it's about time this stuff is getting played in Basel, so he'll stuff his bags with old dusty, crackling plates from the 60s & 70s to join us... We're more than happy to have our old friend partying with us at Kaschemme... AKIWAWA!

Akiwawa welcomes Mr. Magic aka Lamine Kandji from Dakar, Senegal

Earlier this year Herr Wempe aka DJ Soulsonic invited us to play an "Afrobeat Special" at his famous Soul Gallen Party Series. Together with Mr. Magic and Soulsonic we played african, caribbean Soul/Funk & Afrobeat Sounds all night long. The 500 dancers at the Palace were definitely having a ball.

Lamine Kandji, a good friend of Soulsonic, commutes between his hometown Dakar and Switzerland, always having a nice pile of dusty records in his luggage.
On August 29th he'll bring some of his awesome stuff out of Senegal, Cabo Verde, Angola and the caribbean islands to the Kaschemme.
If you're into westafrican & caribbean funky edged 70s Sounds... better be there!

Coming all the way from Baden, we’re happy to have our old friend here to play raw, dusty & crackling Soul, Funk, Island & African plates with us.

DJ Etienne is not only known for organizing brilliant partys,
he and his friends of AL-JAZZeera are also running two monthly Radio shows called “Vinylszene & Vinylirium” on Kanal K. Obviously focusing on lesser known music released on the dark matter.

On April 18th AKIWAWA welcomes DJ SUSPECT out of Paris!

DJ SUSPECT recently joined the DJ collective “45 LIVE”. It was founded in summer 2014 by Boca 45 & Pete Isaac (Jelly Jazz) over a few pints to celebrate the 45 format and to unite like-minded DJs! No wonder that names like DJ Format, Andy Smith, Ollie Teeba joined the collective amongst others.
Tonight DJ SUSPECT shows what he does best, that be playing mostly (or only?) 45s alongside DJ Pun & Rainer. Expect some Soul, Funk, Jazz, Breakbeats & Afrobeat… always raw & dirty… the way it should be.

His recent Mix of classic French Jazz, Funk, Soul & Pop tunes, made for the legendary New York label "Truth & Soul" underlines his skills, taste & speaks for itself…
